We believe you should know how Frugal Journal is made and where its pictures come from. This page covers both.
How we use AI
We use AI tools to help with research, outlines, drafts, and editing. Here is what that means in practice.
- A person decides which topics to cover.
- A person fact checks the numbers and claims against their sources.
- A person edits and approves every article before it goes live.
- We don’t publish tool output without review.
- We don’t use AI to create fake reviews, fake quotes, or fake personal stories.
Our Editorial Policy describes the full review process.
Where our images come from
The images and graphics on Frugal Journal come from these sources:
- Original images and graphics. Pictures, printables, and Pinterest pin designs we make ourselves, for example in Canva.
- Licensed stock images. Photos we use under a license from a stock library, following that library’s terms.
- AI generated or AI assisted images. Some images may be created or edited with AI image tools. We use them as illustrations. We don’t present them as photos of real events or real people.
- Public domain and Creative Commons images. We follow each license and give credit when it asks for it.
- Images from other creators. When we use work from a creator, we credit them and link to their page.
We credit the source of an image near the image or at the bottom of the article when credit is needed.
About the author portrait
The portrait of Sarah Jenkins on the About page is a real photograph.
